What is alexa rank? Alexa is one of the most recognize rank in online business. You can have your alexa rank by checking it on alexa.com. Or you can download their toolbar and install it on your browser to check your rank. The lower the rank you get, the better your status.
So how to get high rankings? In order to get a high rank we had to know how alexa rank into account. In general, they explained that their ranking is determined by looking at the ratio between the number of visitors, the length of visitor on our site and the number of page views that we have. There are a number of ways we have to do after knowing this calculation.
1. Bring visitors as much as possible.
This one is obvious, because we can’t have a high rank if we lack the number of visitors. Although we’ve done a lot of things but if none of those visitors came all of our effort will be useless. How do we got a lot of visitor? Well, get through social bookmarking, SEO, and the most easily through comment on others blog. This first point should be discussed separately on other post.
2. Do not display the full post on the front page.
Because now Alexa, calculates combinations of visitor and page view, so we have to ‘force’ visitor to open the pages of our blog trough read more facilities. Surely if we only put the first paragraph of our posts on the front page (assumed the title and first paragraph was interesting), curious visitors automatically will open the next page through the read more. Up here we’ve got two page views (home and single page view recent posts) from a visitor.
3. Show recent post in the sidebar.
This step is the opposite from the second step. This is dedicated for the visitors that coming from search engines like google. They usually stopped at our blog via single page post. So to entice them to open another page, w provide the latest post widgets in our sidebar. Usually people will be interested to see our latest posts, if he entered the first time through a single post.
4. Make a list of most popular posts in the sidebar.
This step is also powerful, because usually visitors (including me) wondered if there is list most popular posts in someone blog. can do this by adding a plugin in your wordpress.
5. Put Recent comment widget on the side bar.
Usually other people comments also sparked the curiosity of visitors to see our postings. For that we need to change (hardcoded or use plugins), if a poster commented link on the sidebar is clicked we change url direct to our comments on the blog rather than directly to the address of the commentator.
6. Create Related post.
Again using the plugin we can make a list of related posts at the bottom of each of our post. Usually visitors attracted to visit our other postings if we give our list of postings that are related to the one that they are read.
